If Hocutt hires one of those 3, and they don't work out, then he's probably officially signed his death warrant as Miami AD. He'll be the next guy shown the door, because Shalala has distanced herself from this coaching search by responding to e-mails in favor of Leach by saying "I don't do the hiring, our AD does".

Any one of those 3 would be terrible hires. Amongst the names mentioned for the Miami job, I don't see a good hire out there. The only 2 I could live with honestly are Malzahn or Leach. I don't like these "final 3" nor Tuberville.

Major donors won't really be on board, I'm sure--and I think you'll see a rash of people in my fanbase bracket boycotting the program until they get this right and listen to us.

Malzahan is the new Vandy coach, he is out of the race for the UM coach.

Im hearing that Trestman is bout a done deal. He did a wonderful job in Montreal, maybe he turns Miami around.

ESPN text just reported that Al Golden was offered the job.

I'm hearing all kinds of stuff saying that Golden has accepted. He was Pitt's main finalist too.

I'm still not sold on him at all. I'll wait to go into total meltdown until I hear who the coordinators are.

Recommend Miami (Fla.) is ready to start a new Golden era for its football team. Temple's Al Golden has accepted an offer to become the next Hurricanes football coach, according to the Miami Herald.

This year's success comes after Temple went 9-4 in 2009 and played in the EagleBank Bowl, the first postseason game for the school since 1979.

The former Penn State player and assistant was seen as a possible successor to Joe Paterno. Golden also spent five seasons as Virginia defensive coordinator before taking the Temple job in 2006.

Montreal Alouettes coach Marc Trestman, Connecticut coach Randy Edsall and Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville were reportedly other finalists for the job.

John Gruden will not coach here either, Florida gets Muschamp, Vandy gets Malzhan, and the Canes get Al Sharpton, Wow that's a big hire. My how the mighty have fallen. Maybe he can turn Miami around like Temple. For Miami fans it has got to be a punch in the gut. Looks like they could have gotten some quality people to interview but I guess not. The old U ain't what it used to be.

Miami made a 10.0 quality Olympic splash with this hire. Sometimes those surprise you though in the long term. I just wonder if Golden is bringing his really big switch with him?

Couldn't happen to a better group imo. When you run off a sucessful coach that graduates kids you deserve all you get.

Educating and graduating your kids is a major part of college football. Shannon was great at that. So was Coker. Both were really good father figures and role models.

BUT--you're delusional if you think that winning, especially on the BCS level, doesn't have a major place too. Especially when that place is Miami which has had a winning tradition for the better part of the past 30 years. When you can't do what you're hired to do--which is win titles, then you're gonna get run off. Not because of the good stuff above, but because the bottom line is you have to win.

What is this success you speak of?

Butch Davis graduated players, Larry Coker graduated players. Al Golden graduates players. Temple's apr has made a dramatic jump.

Just because a kid gets a diploma, it doesnt make them intelligent or even worthy of graduating. Football players go to D1 schools to play football. Most D1 players arent cut out to be successful in the professional world. Just because they "graduated" doesnt mean they really "graduated".Many of them still cant write a complete sentence and Im sure they will likely *wink* graduate *wink* All of that is a bunch of bullchit.

Just like the dude from FSU that had an IQ of 60 who graduated and now looks after old folks. A undergraduate diploma isnt what it used to be for a normal student and it **** sure isnt much for a student athlete.
